NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – With Metro Vancouverites finally being hit with real winter conditions, it looks like some hardware stores are noticing an uptick when it comes to customers looking to prepare.
Michael Garcia is the merchandising manager of Rona in North Vancouver, and says people have shown an interest in shovels and salt.
“We opened the door at 6 a.m. … customers started to show up, grabbing salt, heaters … shovels. We’re setting up more and more shovels because there’s going to be need for them.”

The wintry weather will be here for at least another day or so. So if you’re not prepared yet, you’re advised to do so quickly.
“The snow that did fall last night — regardless of the salting — will result in some icing. That’s what people need to be careful about. They need to look at walkways and make sure everything’s salted. Not just for them, but the entire community.”

You’re being reminded to clear walkways in front of your home after a major snowfall, and help others who may not be able to.
