VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – People across the Lower Mainland are waking up without a fresh coat of snow for the first time this week, although that doesn’t mean we’re in the clear.
RELATED: Another snowfall warning for Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley
Another snowfall warning is in effect for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, with several centimetres expected to fall in parts of the region starting later on Thursday.
Thursday morning, there was still a lot of ice and snow on the roads and sidewalks.
And while some people have been good with clearing the sidewalk in front of their house, others not so much… you can clearly tell where some property lines are @NEWS1130 pic.twitter.com/3iEtVFk5SF

While the major routes are fairly clear, it’s the neighbourhoods that look untouched. Near Granville St. and King Edward Ave. in Vancouver, many streets were still covered with compounded ice and snow.
Sidewalks are hit and miss. Some patches have been cleared by people living in the area, while parts are still icy and snowy, making for a rather sketchy walk.
Now, some are pretty darn diligent with clearing the sidewalk near their home. This man is making a path beside the sidewalk, because it’s too icy to shovel. And staff at Vandusen Garden are staying on top of the sidewalk around their large property. @NEWS1130 pic.twitter.com/HgnEfsLhwX

Things may be getting worse, with NEWS 1130 meteorologist Russ Lacate expecting snow, rain, and freezing rain in the second half of Thursday and continuing late into the night.
Sunny breaks early today disappear as another #winter #BCStorm closes in this afternoon: #snow, rain & #freezingrain all get a mention in what appears to be a hazardously slippery mix coming in the second half of the day and lasting late into the night. @NEWS1130 @BT_Vancouver

Potential #snowfall accumulations late today & tonight will vary widely. Anywhere from a trace to several cms because we will be right on the edge between the melting and freezing point for several consecutive hours, across the varied terrain of the Lower Mainland. #BCStorm
